Dutch footballers make FIFPro short-list

Published on 1 December 2011 - 7:42pm
More about:

Dutch football celebs Robin van Persie, Wesley Sneijder and Edwin van der Sar have been nominated to play for the international federation of professional footballers' global team. The Oranje players join 55 other men short-listed to join the FIFA FIFPro World XI 2011.

Spain leads the nominations for the second year in a row with 12 players. Brazil ranks second with eight players short-listed, followed by Manchester United with six.

This year marks the first time in FIFPro’s seven-year history that a player from a non-European club has made the short-list with the nomination of Santos FC forward Neymar from Brazil.

The 50,000 professional footballers that make up FIFPro unions will vote for the final World XI team. The results will be revealed on 9 January.
