Dutch farmers hit by drought and frost

Published on 7 May 2011 - 5:34pm
More about:

At the moment, the consequences of the continuing spring drought in the Netherlands are not too bad, but farmers and nurserymen are seriously hoping for rain. To make matters worse, crops and plants were hit by frost in the north and east of the country earlier this week.

Over the past weeks, some places have had heavy showers but others have had absolutely no rain. If the drought continues into the growing season, there are likely to be major problems for the Dutch agricultural sector.
