Published on 2 September 2010 - 12:11pm
More about:

An employee of the Dutch Finance Ministry has confessed to siphoning off 160,000 euros.

The ministry in The Hague said on Thursday that the office worker has been arrested on suspicion of fraud, and police are investigating seven alleged accomplices to whose accounts the money was transferred. They sent the money back to the employee's private account.

The suspect was working for a government agency which is overseeing state loans, and has been suspended but not fired. The theft was discovered in August.
