Published on 8 June 2012 - 12:47pm
More about:

A helicopter with 14 people inside, including one Dutch citizen, has disappeared in Peru. The aircraft vanished over a mountain in the southern part of the country.

The helicopter departed from the city of Mazuko travelling over the Andes mountains headed to the tourist spot Cusco. The aircraft never arrived at its destination. A 39-year-old Dutch citizen was on the flight. Many of the other passengers are from South Korea, part of a business delegation. The South Korean consul is travelling to Cusco. The spouse of the missing Dutch citizen is also in Peru.

It is unclear whether the helicopter crashed or was forced to make an emergency landing. According to the company that ran the flight, HeliCusco, besides the one Dutch citizen, there were eight South Koreans, a person from the Czech Republic, a Swede, and three Peruvians, including the two members of the flight crew.
