Dutch architects to design Beijing airport

Published on 6 July 2011 - 10:54pm
More about:

A Dutch company has won a competition to design the world’s largest airport in Beijing.

NACO (Netherlands Airport Consultants), a subsidiary of Dutch engineering consultancy DHV, designed the airport with eight runways which is to deal with 130 million passengers per year.

Beijing New International Airport will be four times larger than Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport and will cover the same area as the Dutch capital Amsterdam. The airport is due to open in 2017.

Beijing Airport currently handles 80 million passengers per year, but has reached its top capacity.
