DRC activist died of heart failure

Published on 8 July 2010 - 7:30pm
More about:

Human rights activist Floribert Chebeya did not die of injuries but of heart failure, the foreign ministry of the Democratic Republic of Congo says.

Mr Chebeya, head of the group Voice of the Voiceless, was found dead in his car near Kinshasa in early June. He had several injuries. The foreign ministry bases its conclusion on forensic research conducted by a team of Dutch and Congolese pathologists.

The team presented its findings to the Attorney General of the DRC in the presence of Dutch diplomats.
