Climate change biggest concern for Europeans

Published on 7 October 2011 - 6:16pm
More about:

Nine out of ten Europeans view climate change as a great to severe problem. According to a survey conducted by the European Commission, environmental concerns top the list of the world’s biggest problems after poverty and hunger. One in five sees it as the biggest problem.

The survey asked respondents from each of the 27 European member states to rank climate concerns on a scale of one (less severe) to ten (most severe). In the Netherlands, climate change ranked 6.5 compared to a 7.4 European average.

Two out of three European respondents said that energy use should be curbed using tax measures. In the Netherlands, three out of four supported such a move.
