Seventeen people have been arrested in Western Europe on suspicion of sexual abuse and producing child pornography, Europol announced on Wednesday. Some of those arrested have been linked to past vice cases.
The arrests conclude the first major joint operation against child pornography by the European police organisation and the FBI. Operation Atlantic, as it is called, was started in 2010.
Some of the arrests took place in the Netherlands, which was one of five countries taking part. The others were Spain, Italy, France and Great Britain.
