Caro Emerald wins Pop Prize

Dutch Jazz singer Caro Emerald has won the Pop Prize at the Noorderslag music festival in the northern Dutch city of Grongingen. The Pop Prize is the most important pop music award in the Netherlands.

The prize is awarded to artists who have made an important contribution to Dutch pop music. The jury called her "a phenomenon with an international allure".

Earlier on Saturday evening, Caro Emerald won the Mega Award, the prize awarded by public radio 3FM listeners for the most popular Dutch artist from the Mega Top 50.

On Thursday, Caro Emerald won an EBBA, European Border Breaker Award, for European artists who are breaking into the pop scene outside their own country.

Earlier winners of the Pop Prize include Herman Brood, Anouk, De Dijk, Within Temptation, Urban Dance Squad, Junkie XL, Spinvis and last year it was Kyteman.
