Bank refunds double deductions

Published on 19 November 2011 - 6:23pm
More about:

The ABN AMRO Bank has refunded Dutch customers who had withdrawals deducted twice from their accounts due to a technical fault at Europe-wide payment processing company Equens, according to a bank spokesperson.

Around 250,000 ABN AMRO clients found they had unwittingly forked out twice for a PIN transaction due to the processing malfunction on 16 November. All have them have now got their money back.

But some clients who had not been affected by the fault were also surprised to find the bank had paid sums into their accounts, according to an ABN AMRO spokesperson. Unfortunately for them, the bank has no intention of letting them keep the money. It will be reclaiming any mistaken payments in the course of next week.
