Sunday's Dutch Premier League fixture between AZ Alkmaar and Excelsior Rotterdam was suspended due to thick mist. No goals had been scored when the decision fell during the break. All matches played earlier in the afternoon were played the full 90 minutes.
ADO Den Haag and FC Utrecht drew 2-2 in an attractive and well-balanced match. Daan Bovenberg put FC Utrecht ahead in the first half, but Charlton Vicento equalised for ADO The Hague before the break. Lex Immers put ADO in the lead in the second half, but ten minutes before the final whistle Leon de Kogel scored the equaliser with a penalty.
Feyenoord beat Vitesse in Arnhem 4-0 with goals by John Guidetti (2), Jordy Clasie and Sekou Cissé.
Vitesse’s trainer John van den Brom was sent off the sideline in the second half by referee Bas Nijhuis for his continual criticism of his decisions. The referee was repeatedly jeered by spectators during the match. Feyenoord defender Stefan left the pitch on a stretcher with a probable head injury.
FC Groningen beat VVV Venlo with difficulty at home in the Euroborg stadium. Pieter Huistra’s team won 2-1.
Yanic Wildschut scored the first goal for VVV after 15 minutes. But Leandro Bacuna equalised in the 30th minute from the penalty spot. VVV player Andrea Mei was sent off following a foul against Dusan Tadic. The decision was controversial and may have decided the match. David Texeira scored the winning goal shortly after the break.
