A Dutchman has been sentenced to 18 years in jail in Australia for drug smuggling. He was arrested in April during a series of raids in Sydney and Perth.
Police found 14 kilograms of methamphetamine or 'crystal meth' in two bags hidden in a secret compartment of a rented camper van. During the trial, the 42-year-old man said he didn’t know anything about the drugs, claiming someone else must have put them there.
The judge and the jury, however, felt that video footage showing him and an accomplice buying and carrying the bags to the camper van proved he was guilty.
