Dutch international footballer Arjen Robben has been voted into the UEFA.com users' Team of the Year for 2011.
4.5 million votes produced a team dominated by players from Spanish giants FC Barcelona (5 players) and Real Madrid (3 players). Robben, who plays for current German league leaders Bayern Munich, was voted into the team for the first time in his career, in the right midfield position.
Robben, born in 1984, served his apprenticeship with Dutch clubs FC Groningen and PSV Eindhoven, winning the Dutch Championship with PSV in 2003. But his big break came when he signed for English Premier League club Chelsea in 2004, with whom he won the League Championship in 2005 and 2006, the League Cup in 2005 and 2007, and the FA Cup in 2007.
Robben moved on to Real Madrid for two seasons, winning the Spanish League in 2008. He signed for Bayern Munich at the beginning of the 2009-10 season and in his first season Bayern won both the German Championship and the League Cup.
Previous Dutch players to feature in the UEFA.com users' Team of the Year are Wesley Sneijder (2010), Clarence Seedorf (2002 and 2007) and Ruud van Nistelrooy (2003).
