Ajax' loss is PSV and FC Twente's gain

Published on 23 January 2011 - 8:13pm
More about:

FC Utrecht has defeated Ajax for the second time this season. The Utrecht squad defeated the unfortunate Amsterdammers in its home stadium Galgenwaard 3-0. Utrecht had to thank Eduourd Duplan (two goals, 22nd and 24 minute) for its well-deserved victory. Ismo Vorstermans scored the third goal in the final phase of the game. And it could have been worse for Ajax: FC Utrecht missed a number of golden opportunities during the first half.

Leader-of-the-pack PSV defeated VVV-Venlo 3-0. Wilfred Bouma, Jeremain Lens and Atiba Hutchinson scored the goals. The handsome victory ensured PSV's continued position as leader of the Premier League. Coach Fred Rutten's team has 44 points out of 20 matches.

FC Twente won its match against FC Groningen 2-1, which means the team from Enschede will stay right behind front runner PSV. After half an hour, Tim Matavz put Groningen in the lead, but Marck Janko scored the equaliser just before half time. Just after half time, the Austrian player scored another goal for PSV, but missed a penalty.

Roda JC rose to fifth place thanks to its victory in a home game over Excelsior (3-0). Jimmy Hempte, Pa Modou Kah and replacement Morten Skoubo scored the goals for Roda JC.
