Ajax has lost 0-1 against ADO The Hague this afternoon at the Amsterdam Arena. It is the second defeat for the team in a week after losing to Auxerre in the Champion's League on Wednesday.
The team's mediocre performance was not a complete surprise as it has played poorly this season and is struggling to combine the premiere league competition with Champion's League matches.
Trainer Martin Jol left Eyong Enoh out of the team choosing midfielders Demy de Zeeuw, Siem de Jong and Rasmus Lindgren. The trio failed to provide strikers Luis Suarez and Mounir El Hamdaoui with opportunities.
Two attempts at a goal by de Zeeuw and El Hamdaoui were saved by ADO goalkeeper Gino Coutinho. Ajax keeper Maarten Stekelenburg managed to stop a ball from Ricky van de Bergh going into the net, but just before half time, Wesley Verhoek scored for ADO The Hague.
The tempo quickened during the second half of the game and a shot by Siem de Jong went over the goal. ADO also tried to score a second time, but Lex Immers' shot hit the post.
