Relatives of victims of the 9/11 attacks are furious at Rotterdam architecture firm MVRDV.
Last week the company published its design for two high-rise apartment buildings to be built in the South Korean capital Seoul. The two towers are connected in the middle by a structure resembling a cloud.
The 9/11 next of kin argue that the two apartment towers resemble the exploding twin towers in New York City and say they regard the design as disrespectful and a cheap publicity stunt.
NMRDV has published an apology on its website. “We did not mean to offend anyone. We just wanted to reinvent the solitude which typifies a skyscraper.”
