The death toll from a train accident in northern India has risen to 53, including a Swedish national, the Press Trust of India reported Monday.

"Fifty-three bodies, including that of a Swedish national, have been recovered so far. About 250 are undergoing treatment at a hospital here," a local police official from the northern state of Uttar Pradesh told PTI.
