130 kilos of heroin intercepted in the Netherlands

Published on 31 December 2010 - 9:53pm
More about:

Dutch police working in co-operation with the Turkish and Belgian authorities have intercepted a consignment of about 130 kilos of heroin in Arnhem in the east of the Netherlands. The drugs are said to have a street value of over three million euros.

Four suspects, including a 45-year-old importer of fruit and vegetables, were arrested in the operation. Police were able to trace the drugs traffickers after receiving information from the Turkish authorities.

The drugs shipment is thought to have been transported to Belgium in a small container ship from Iran. The sea container was then delivered to the business premises of the fruit importer. Police caught the four suspects red handed as they were opening the container.
