Zelaya welcomed in Mexico

Published on 4 August 2009 - 10:10pm
More about:

Manuel Zelaya, Honduras' ousted president, has visited Mexico and held talks with President Felipe Calderón. Mr Zelaya was expelled from Honduras last month and is garnering the support of neighbouring countries.

Mr Calderón said he hoped mediation talks being held in Costa Rica would provide the basis for a peaceful solution to the Honduran crisis. The talks have so far failed to produce concrete results.

Mr Zelaya's supporters in Honduras have announced new demonstrations will take place. Protest marches to the country's two largest cities are planned for Wednesday.
