WWII graves desecrated in Zeeland

Published on 14 September 2009 - 9:19am
More about:

Eleven graves have been desecrated in the military cemetery in Kapelle in the province of Zeeland. Police say the vandalism was discovered on Sunday and must have happened during the weekend.

The cemetery houses the graves of French and North African soldiers from World War Two.

The Star of David which marked one of the graves has completely disappeared. The other ten were marked with crosses. There was evidence of more vandalism in the vicinity of the cemetery.
