WPC 2011 - India vote-off

Published on : 18 April 2011 - 4:37pm | By Tim Fisher (graphic: RNW)
More about:

Voting has ended and we now present the results of the vote-off to choose the two songs to represent India.

In this year's World Pop Contest each country may be represented by one or two songs. For some countries we have had more than two nominations, so in April 2011 we asked you to help us choose the best songs for those countries.

This page presents the five songs nominated to represent India - and the two winners.

The results are presented below:

(These videos are all to be found on YouTube - no copyright infringement intended)

Song J came 1st with 32 points and will go to the Final

Song K
came 3rd with 20 points and will not go to the Final

Song L came 2nd with 30 points and will go to the Final

Song M
came 4th with 18 points and will not go to the Final

Song N
came 5th with 10 points and will not go to the Final

********************************************************************************************

Here's what we asked you do:

You have 10 points TOTAL to award. You may divide the 10 points as you like between songs J K L M N (videos below).

You may want to give each song different points (examples: 1-2-1-2-4 or 2-2-2-2-2 or 3-1-4-1-1, etc.)

You may want give points to only two, only three or only four of the songs (examples: 5-0-5-0-0 or 0-5-0-2-3, or 2-3-0-3-2, etc.)

You may want to give ALL your points to just one song (0-0-10-0-0 for example).

How you divide the points is up to you, but you must award a total of 10. If you do not, your votes will not count.

Email your points for Song J - Song K - Song L - Song M - Song N

I agree with Jasmin. The songs nominated are popular Bollywood numbers which are very little representative of Indian music. There are far better songs than these 5 numbers. But anyways, I will vote and send the score. After all its an honor for us that India will feature on #WorldPopContest.

Not true representation of rich Indian music...these songs must have been nominated by the young Euro Hit Indian fans...We oldies don't agree much, still will send the score..
