      World's oldest person dies at 115

      The world's oldest person, Gertrude Baines, has died aged 115 at a nursing home in Los Angeles.

       

      She was born in the US state of Georgia in 1894 to a son of slaves and attributed her longevity to God and not smoking or drinking. A fervent supporter of President Barack Obama, she celebrated her last birthday declaring she hoped to vote for him again in 2012.
