An Australian woman has been cleared of involvement in an attack on the East Timorese president and prime minister.
Angelita Pires was on trial with 27 others. She was the girlfriend of rebel leader Alfredo Reinado, who was killed in the attempt to assassinate President José Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao. Mr Ramos-Horta was seriously injured, but has fully recovered.
Angelita Pires stood trial for collecting money to finance the attack, but no proof of the allegations was found. Twenty-three of the suspects were jailed for up to 16 years. Four are still awaiting sentence.
