More about:

Two people have died in Austria and in Germany after winter sports accidents.

A German man has died as a result of injuries suffered when he was caught in an avalanche which dragged him 300 metres on Sunday in Tyrol in Austria. He was buried under the snow for 17 hours but was eventually rescued and taken to hospital in Innsbrück where he later died.

A 28-year-old Belgian snowboarder has died after colliding in the Black Forest in Germany with a young woman who was skiing. She was seriously injured and the Belgian man, who is thought to have been drunk, left the scene and was later found dead.
