The Netherlands is getting it's first real taste of winter this week with temperatures dropping below zero and heavy snowfall today. As usual, the first snow of the winter has brought disruption to Dutch roads, railways, cyclepaths and airports.
But plenty of people are also enjoying the magical transformation of the landscape into a pristine white world. Not to mention the opportunity to build snowmen, sledge down hills and surprise the unwary with a cold, damp snowball.

The photo of the sheep in the snow-covered field is wonderful. I have a feeling that the world's weather patterns are still messed up. I live in Midwestern part of the US, where we experienced a severe drought over the summer. Most of our rain was dumped across Europe over the summer, creating floods especially in Ireland and the UK. We're still not getting much rain in my part of the world, so I think my area will have a mild winter while Europe might experience a harsh winter. I haven't seen much of drastic change in the weather patterns over the past six months.
All the people in the western part are enjoying the snow while here in Indonesia welcomes rainy season. Luckily, the sun still smiles though morning till mid-day
Get ready for another Ice Age Europe! We in Southern Ontario, Canada, near Lake Huron also known as the Snow Belt, get nothing but rain.
The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found? J.B. Priestley, Apes and Angels.
Loved the picture of your snow. You go snow before we did here in the north. But were not in a hurry to get any because we will have it till April.
