This year's Zilveren Camera (Silver Camera), the biggest Dutch prize in photojournalism, has been awarded to Joost van den Broek for 2011. The jury said the photo gave a strikingly accurate image of the Netherlands in the year 2011.

Van den Broek's photo shows a tense scene in a typical Dutch residential area as neighbours and other locals demonstrate outside the house of the treasurer of the paedophile association Martijn.

"A multicultural society in which impatience, aggression and a desire to take the law into one's own hands seem to get the upper hand," said the jury.

This wasn't the only award for Van den Broek, a photographer for national daily de Volkskrant. He won the category Domestic Documentary with a photo series on the expulsion of a group of Iraqis and in the category Art, Culture and Entertainment with a photo of the winner of the Dutch Golden Calf Film Award, Nasrdin Dchar, with his proud parents.
