Wind gusts shut down Slovakian music festival

Published on 18 July 2009 - 7:21pm
More about:

A boy was killed when a huge tent collapsed at Slovakia's Pohoda music festival.

A gust of wind lifted and then brought down the tent on hundreds of people sheltering from a heavy downpour. Thirty-eight people were taken to hospital, 15 of them with serious injuries.

Organisers abandoned the music event featuring Patti Smith, Basement Jaxx and Scotland's Travis in the western town of Trencin. All 33,000 festival-goers were evacuated.
