Wilders to call Van Gogh killer as witness

Published on 12 December 2009 - 2:27pm
More about:

Dutch populist politician Geert Wilders is to call the murderer of Dutch film director and writer Theo van Gogh as a witness in his hate speech trial.

The PVV leader wants to call Mohammed Bouyeri to show that his criticism of Islam is justified. Mr Wilders says the murder shows that Islam incites violence. Mr Wilders' trial starts on 20 January. He is accused of inciting hate, discrimination and collective insult. Mr Bouyeri has been found guilty of murdering Mr Van Gogh in 2004 and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

"He who publicly, verbally or in writing or in an image, incites hatred against or discrimination of people or violent behavior against person or property of people because of their race, their religion or belief, their gender or hetero- or homosexual nature or their physical, mental, or intellectual disabilities, will be punished with a prison sentence of at the most one year or a fine of third category. { 2. If the offense is committed by a person who makes it his profession or habit, or by two or more people in association, a prison sentence of at the most two years or a fine of fourth category will be imposed.".......Sandrav has a valid point when she stated " Inciting hatred is very very hard to prove." but, the government doesn't need proof to convict Wilders. He is a thorn in the EU's establishment and they will find him guilty of regardless of the evidence produced by his legal staff. { What constitues "incites hatred?" If they can't get him on inciting hatred, they have two other options: "...or discrimination of people or violent behavior...." Wilders hasn't used any violent beaviour; therefore, the government's only option is "discrimination." Maybe, but he never followed thru with his threats like taxing Muslim women who wear headscarves. { Wilders has a right to speak-out against the Islamic threats but he is not guilty of inciting hatred and violent behaviour, or discrimination. He is guilty of up-setting the Muslim community for speaking out against them as a whole and making them out to be terrorists. { People get upset and incited for trival reasons. Everytime I open-up the sports page and see my favorite team lose another match, I get incited and starting kicking the dog and tv. I know better but I do it anyway. It all started when I first discriminated between teams and their home countries. Do you think both Wilders and the Muslims are like fans of football teams. It just doesn't take much to incite riots because "we all" discriminate for out teams. Wilders found not guilty by reason of insanity and the insanity was incited in him by the thousands of terrorists acts in the name of Islam. Islam should be on trial, not Wilders. It is the cause and effect of Wilders' anger. So mote it be!

I personally think the case will be thrown out before it ever gets off the ground into a full trial. Inciting hatred is very very hard to prove.
