Wüst new 3000 metre champion

Ireen Wüst has become the Dutch ice-skating champion in the 3000 metres competition. She finished the race, at the Thialf arena in Heerenveen, in four minutes and 11.52 seconds. Renate Groenewold came second. Diane Valkenburg came third.

In the Men’s 1000 metres, Stefan Groothuis won with a time of one minute and 9.30 seconds.  Simon Kuipers and Mark Tuitert finished second and third respectively.

Annette Gerritsen followed her Friday victory in the 500 metres with a time of one minute and 16.83 seconds in the Women’s 1000 metres. Margot Boer was second. Marianne Timmer came third.

Sven Kramer won the men’s 5000 metres.
