US religious activist enters North Korea

Published on 27 December 2009 - 9:23am
More about:

A religious activist from the United States has managed to enter North Korea. Robert Park, who is of Korean origin, crossed a frozen river to reach the country from China.

He was shouting that he came to bring God's love. He carried a letter asking North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il to free political prisoners, close concentration camps and improve human rights.

Colleagues of Mr Park filmed him making the crossing and are planning to publish the footage on Monday.

In March, two US journalists were arrested after entering North Korea. They were released in August after mediation by former US president Bill Clinton.
