US girl traumatised by Wilders' film Fitna

Published on : 23 September 2009 - 2:16pm | By RNW News Desk
More about:

A high school student in Pulaski in the US state of Kentucky is seeking counseling after she watched the anti-Muslim film Fitna by the populist Dutch politician Geert Wilders, leader of the right-wing Freedom Party. Seventeen-year-old Amber Cruey was reportedly so horrified by the acts of violence she saw in the film that she sought psychiatric guidance.

A teacher at the County High School in the town of Pulaski showed Fitna on 11 September as part of a course on radical Muslim movements. The school council decided in retrospect that the Wilders' film was unsuitable for a group of high school students.

I also smell lawsuit for $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. With all the crime in the United States, I doubt seriously a fifteen minute film is going to be soooo tramatic. I believe the girls father has only one motive, money money money!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Prove it.
Anti Bill 5 October 2009 - 9:43am
Complete and utter nonsense! Another reason for someone to sue someone for something. This is what gives americans a bad name. Why do we have to read such rubbish. Oh what bliss to live in 'Ann of green gables land' away from the big nasty outside world!
Anonymous 5 October 2009 - 10:02pm
Anne of Green Gables was actually set in Canada on Prince Edward Island, though no doubt the Muslims want her to cover up.
Anonymous 5 October 2009 - 5:07am
We are at war against radical Muslims who destroy, kill, blow up and torture to death innocent people. To hell with them! They have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind, sooner or later.
aschera 3 October 2009 - 8:10pm
to Hiram: The Sanhedrin didn't use to cruxified people. That was not there method to punish People.
Hiram 3 October 2009 - 10:06pm
Aschera, you are right about the Sanhedrin not using "crucifixion" to punish people for crimes like blasphemous. In the case of the Yeshua, the Sanhedrin "had" the Romans nail him to the cross for blasphemous. The Sanhedrin executed the Moshiach (Yeshua) because they had it done by the Romans. They had it done!

If only we had a video of the Prophet Mohammad marrying his nine year old bride, plus what went on afterward. Then we could all see Islam for what is.

HUH.....that poor girl!! she comes to a free country, is ALLOWED to have an education, can choose NOT to wear a head scarf, eats well and has opportunities for employment but poor thing....is traumatized by the culture she and her family left behind. This is why we in america dont NEED her kind emigrating here. WEHERE are the poeple who want to come, build a new life, question the values they left(often because they were punished by them)?? It would be shocking to see that one's uncles or brothers or even Fathers, could behead a person just becuase of their "religious " beliefs!! And who was this guy Mohammed? Have we vetted him. Riding aroud in 115 degree hot desert weather makes me question his whole mentation. Was he delrious?, dehydrated?Depressed? Interesting how Islam has NOT ever had a renaissance or questioning of their whole belief system. In the meantime, PLEASE stay home if you think you might be "horrified". We need immigrants who can see violence for what it is and stand srong for america.
sandra 6 October 2009 - 12:26pm
What do you mean by we in American don´t need her kind in the United states? USA is for everyone who has legally immigrated to the USA or was born there. The girl also has the right to her religion in the United States. You must remind yourself of the American laws before opening your mouth. The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is also the first section of the Bill of Rights. It is arguably the most important part of the U.S. Constitution, as it guarantees freedoms of religion, speech, writing and publishing, peaceful assembly, and the freedom to raise grievances with the Government. In addition, it requires that a wall of separation be maintained between church and state. It reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Utter nonsense & ridiculous . Ik woon in Amerika .This father is most likely hoping to get rich by sueing someone ...these are desparate economic times here .Watch him closely in the days ahead . Even the daily news here is as graphic as this film, & most television & movies supercede the violence shown in Fitna. Perhaps the difference is the reality factor. All the clips in Fitna are facts..........they are what has happened, but because it is true ..people should know about it . This girl is in highschool(17 years old ) & she was in the AP program, which is for advanced students, therfore she could read the warning at the start of the film and decide for herself if she should view it . . I have seen the entire film ....it does not promote prejudice. It just shows what has been occurring in the world. If this AP highschool student was not aware of these things...she should be .
bert 29 September 2009 - 7:59pm
don't mind the americans. They never get traumatized by their own acts, only by the acts of others I do not understand that this type of information is reaching RNW. Just sensation . Bahh
Steve 30 September 2009 - 2:32pm
Bert, no nation is a saint. There is a long list of European atrocities you seem to be forgetting. As far as the point at hand, America is the only country fighting this kind of extremism. No matter how many "Europeans" are arrested en route to jihadist training camps...I mean wild life exhibitions, Europe will never wake up. The Dutch group of "youths" on welfare were arrested in Kenya. The Swedish "youths", also on welfare, were just arrested in Packistan. These were both only in the last 1.5 months. The "Swede" was detained at Guantanamo and Sweden spent half a million dollars chartering a flight for his return only for him to return to another training camp (hint: the same reason he was arrested in the first place). I remember Sweden painted him as an innocent victim of American aggression, and of course the appeasement prone Swedes agreed. I am glad the Packistanis have him. They wont have Washington bureaucrats telling them that playing loud music is cruel and unusual. If you want to invite mass murderers into your country and finance their terrorist training through government aid programs at least dont give them passports. That way only people willing to sacrifice their lives in the name of multiculturalism will be harmed.
Frederik 24 September 2009 - 12:22pm
This report is incorrect. There are no acts of violence visible in Fitna whatoever. Why don't you show Fitna so people can judge for themselves: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=216_1207467783
Nestor 23 September 2009 - 5:48pm
To be honest, I was also horrified when I first saw it in the prime time news. That even though they stopped when the killer grabs the victim's head. Had forgotten until I saw it again at Fitna. And got horrified again. By the way Hiram, I am still as skeptic about Islam's "nice" true face as its "wrong" face, but many nations sponsoring terrorism are actually western. Just look at who manufactures their weapons or give them knowledge. And regarding the bottom issue: I think islamic terrorism is not such, just religious terrorism. If we are to fight this kind of events we should wipe out any religious belief and tradition, cause all of them are liable to be misinterpreted. And still, these events happen today because they can happen. Hatred has always been, is now and will forever be there, for one reason or the other. It's part of us. Now it's easy to build bombs, so bombs are built and used. The bottomline is that it's naive to think this can be battled or avoided. Bloodshed will happen for one reason or the other, whichever more stupid. My opinion only. Would like to see what you think.
Hiram 23 September 2009 - 6:16pm
You are right about hatred but that doesn't mean we should continue to be victims of a Jihad in the name of Islam. Man is greedy in nature and will sell his weapons to anyone for the right price. Why do we need a UN, when the UN is just as guilty for the crimes committed by Islam. They turn their heads for money and oil. We don't need to punish all Muslims because their faith in Islam but we do need to hold accountable all terrorists who murder in the name of Islam. If you practice what you preach, you should be able to take the punishment that follows and that includes people and nations that support Islam's Jihad with weapons.
Hiram 23 September 2009 - 4:57pm
"...she sought psychiatric guidance."........Question: Was she traumatised by Wilders' film Fitna or was she traumatised by the terrorism committed in the name Islam? The entire world has been traumatised by the Islamic terrorists. I guess when you reside in a place like Pulaski and are shielded from the world and you see a Islamic terrorist behead a person like Pearl, a news reporter, one could become traumatised. There have been so many murders committed in the name of Islam, the world has become desensitized by the long exposure to the crimes. Until, the UN goes after and takes out the leaders of the nations who sponser terrorism, we will lose the war with Islam.
Anonymous 23 September 2009 - 5:24pm
You are right, we are at war with all the muslims in the world! They are all criminals and we should imprison them all before they reveil their terrorist nature. The ones on the video show what they are all like, deep inside. Are you kidding me! What a load of nonsense. It's a war against terrorists, not against Islam. The way you and your friend Wilders present it, is exactly the way the Jews were hunted in the last couple of centuries.
Hiram 23 September 2009 - 6:06pm
Not all Muslims are terrorists but a vast majority of terrorism is committed in the name of Islam. The terrorists openly admit their Jihad (Holy War) is against non-believers. It is an Islamic war (Jihad). The Jews Jews didn't behead innocent people in the name of Judism or fly aircraft into buildings and killing thousands of mena wome and children. The Bombings in Madrid, London, Mumbai were all committed in the name of Islam. Islam has declared a war on non-believers. Sorry you can't accept the truth.

scum....
Q 30 September 2009 - 12:30pm
hum...they kind of cruxified a guy called Jesus for being against their believes... perhaps the name rings a bell even after 2000 years...
Hiram 1 October 2009 - 5:44am
Q, the name Yeshua rings a bell with me every day and they, the Sanhedrin, did have His physical body crucified.
