United States Defence Secretary Robert Gates says he is disappointed by Iran's announcement that it is increasing its uranium enrichment work. He believes international pressure on Iran should be intensified.
 

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad argues that he gave the international community two to three months to prevent the move but that the deadline has now elapsed. Recently, hopes had been raised that Iran would agree to send low-enriched uranium abroad in exchange for nuclear fuel.
