Uruguayan delegation travels to ICJ

Published on 18 April 2010 - 8:39am
More about:

A delegation from Uruguay is travelling to the Netherlands early to attend a hearing at the Peace Palace in The Hague on Tuesday.

The delegation is coming to the International Court of Justice to hear the verdict on a case Argentina brought against Uruguay.

Argentina says Uruguay has violated agreements between the two countries by building a large paper factory on their mutual border. The relationship between the neighbouring South American countries has been seriously damaged by the affair.

The ash cloud above north-west Europe has meant that the delegation has had to fly to Rome via Buenos Aires from Montevideo and will try to take the train from Rome to The Hague.
