United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has visited Concepción, the Chilean city severely damaged by the recent earthquake. He promised the UN would provide over seven million euros in aid.
The country recently held a television broadcast to collect money for all its earthquake victims and the rebuilding of ruined areas. The aim of the programme - in which many Chilean celebrities took part - was to raise at least 22 million euros.
The official death toll from the earthquake now stands at 452. The government has made no announcements about the number of people still missing.
