The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has given Ukraine permission to continue to organise the 2012 European football championship. Ukraine will be hosting the championship in conjunction with Poland. The Ukrainian matches will take place in the cities of Kiev, Donetsk, Lvov and Kharkiv.
UEFA has had its doubts about Ukraine’s ability to organise the championship and had even considered scrapping two or three of the proposed cities. The organisation has been frustrated with the slow progress of work on the necessary transport and accommodation infrastructure
On Friday, UEFA also confirmed that the final of the championship would be played in the Polish city of Kiev.
