Two sentenced to death in Myanmar

Published on 8 January 2010 - 3:01pm
More about:

Myanmar has sentenced two people to death for leaking information on the country's military government. A third person was jailed for fifteen years.

The three were found to be responsible for distributing photos and documents of visits of a Myanmarese general to China and North Korea. The photos were on websites of Myanmarese in exile.

China is one of Myanmar's few allies and some sources say that the former Burma is receiving aid from North Korea to help it develop its own nuclear programme.
