The presidential palace compound in Afghanistan's capital Kabul was hit by a rocket early on Tuesday morning. No one was injured in the Taliban rebel attack, and the rocket failed to hit the heavily guarded building.

A second rocket came down  nearby, within the precincts of the police headquarters. Again, there were no casualties as a result.
