Snow in the Russian capital Moscow has caused absolute chaos on the roads with a record 1700 kilometres of tailbacks and traffic jams.
Moscow is experiencing its heaviest snowfall for a century. Snowploughs have only managed to keep the main roads clear, minor roads and residential neighbourhoods are buried under the heavy snowfall.
Earlier this year, Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov announced plans to prevent snow falling in the capital by seeding snow clouds with liquid nitrogen or dry ice. According to the mayor, seeding clouds is far less expensive than sending out snowploughs.
