Toyota recalls Sienna minivans

Published on 17 April 2010 - 10:15am
More about:

Toyota has again recalled hundreds of thousands of cars. Almost 900,000 Sienna minivans sold between 1998 until 2010 in the United States and Canada cars will have to return to the garage.

The Japanese car firm says the cable that holds the spare wheel in place may have corroded as a result of salt used to clear the roads of ice. If the cable breaks, it could lead to dangerous situations.

Toyota has already recalled 8.5 million cars worldwide because of problems with the breaks and accelerators and halted production of an all-terrain vehicle because it had a tendency to roll over at high speed.

The company is also facing a 16-million-dollar fine in the United States for failing to inform the authorities about the safety risks quickly enough.
