Three aid workers killed in attack in Uruzgan

Published on 11 January 2010 - 2:05pm
More about:

A spokesperson for the German aid organisation GTZ has confirmed that a bomb attack in the southern Afghan province of Uruzgan on Sunday killed three Afghan GTZ employees.

The Afghan Interior Ministry says the employees were on their way to work in the provincial capital, Tarin Kowt, when their vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. GTZ says it will conduct a full investigation into what exactly happened. The organisation has expressed its shock and extended sympathy to the families of the survivors.

GTZ is mainly involved in large technical projects in Afghanistan for the German Development Cooperation Ministry. In Uruzgan, this includes the construction of a road between the towns of Tarin Kowt and Chora.
