Thief steals car with baby inside

Published on 21 December 2009 - 4:18pm
More about:

A parked car with a baby inside was stolen in the southern Dutch town of Zevenbergen. Police say it is likely the key was left in the ignition lock when the car was parked outside the town station.

Apparently the thief failed to notice the child when he drove off, but when he did he handed the baby and its seat to a supermarket in nearby Wagenberg.

The stolen car was later spotted. After a police chase the car ended up in a ditch and the thief could be arrested. The baby was picked up from the supermarket by its father.

This just happened over here in the US a few days ago. The parents left their car running and went inside a house to visit a friend, their 14 month old baby was sitting in his car seat in the back seat. Someone came up and stole the car while it was running in the driveway. The thief didn't turn the child over to anyone though, he took the car which was eventually found parked on the side of the road. A woman walking her dog heard the baby crying in the back seat and called the police. What are parents thinking when they leave their child in their car unattended?

WOW I just got chills reading the headline!!! I do not want to even try to imagine what the parents felt like ?
