A terrorism trial is due to begin against a leading member of the MDC in Zimbabwe today.
If found guilty Roy Bennett could face a life sentence. He was supposed to become minister of agriculture in the government of national unity under Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, but was arrested on his return from South Africa in February.
The case led to the MDC temporarily withdrawing from the government last month. The party says the trial is politically motivated.
President Robert Mugabe denies this. He says Mr Bennett can take up his post as minister if he is acquitted.
