In the Iranian capital Tehran, demonstrators have again clashed with riot police as several thousand supporters of defeated presidential candidate Mir Hossein Mousavi continued protests against the results of last week's election.
Police used teargas and water cannons to prevent demonstrators from reaching a main square in the centre of Tehran. Iran's present spiritual leader, Ali Khamenei, warned the opposition on Friday that there would be a crackdown on any further demonstrations.
The Iranian news agency Fars reports a suicide bomb attack at the mausoleum of Iran's previous spiritual leader Ayatollah Khomeini, in the south of the city. The attacker died in the blast and two people were injured.
Iran's top legislative body has offered a partial recount of last week's disputed elections. The hard-line Guardian Council says it is ready to recount ten percent of random ballot boxes in the presence of representatives of the three defeated candidates.
Official results gave incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad an overwhelming victory. The opposition accuses the government of rigging the vote and has been holding daily demonstrations calling for a full rerun of the election.
