Swine flu infections still below normal flu

Published on 6 November 2009 - 6:30pm
More about:

A survey conduced in the Netherlands has revealed that the infection rate of Influenza A (H1N1) is still well below that of the normal flu.

The survey by the Nivel health institute found that in late October 118 out every 100,000 people had been infected with the swine flu. Last January, 147 out of every 100,000 people had the normal flu. Nivel concludes that though its infection rate is increasing, swine flu in the Netherlands so far has only caused a mild epidemic.
