Amsterdam's Schiphol airport has been designated "best airport in Europe" by the European airport association, ACI Europe. The jury report says that Schiphol is performing well in the field of sustainability and in maintaining good relations with its immediate neighbours.
The initiative to erect a sound reflecting barrier to prevent Schiphol's ground noise from spreading to the nearby town of Hoofddorp received particular praise.
The ACI Europe prize for best airport is awarded annually.
