A suicide attack on a group of Shi'ite pilgrims in Baghdad has killed at least 41 people. Over 100 people were injured.

The Iraqi authorities say that a woman blew herself up in the middle of a group of Shi'ites who were on an 80-kilometre walk to Kerbala, where thousands of Shi'ite pilgrims will converge for a religious gathering on Friday. In recent years, the pilgrimage has frequently been targeted by Sunni extremists.
