A Sudanese court has sentenced four Muslim fundamentalists to death for killing a US diplomat and his Sudanese chauffeur. The four are to be hanged for the murders.

The American was coming home from a New Year's reception at the British Embassy in Khartoum when the Islamists carried out the attack on the envoy's car. Federal Bureau of Investigation officers from the US helped to investigate the killings in Khartoum.
