Spanish farmers protest low prices

Published on 21 November 2009 - 3:21pm
More about:

Spanish farmers have been holding a mass demonstration in the capital Madrid to demand higher prices for agriculture produce.

An estimated 100,000 farmers and representatives of some 3,000 agricultural organisations turned out for the demonstration. They blame European Union farm policy for destroying Spain's agriculture. The farmers say low prices are forcing them to sell below cost. They also point out that that the price of machinery, fertilizers and seeds have risen while the prices of grain, milk, citrus fruits and olive oil have dropped. On Friday, Spanish farmers staged protests across the country blocking numerous roads with tractors.

"Spanish farmers have been holding a mass demonstration in the capital Madrid to demand higher prices for agriculture produce."......Don't worry about the high prices because you, the farmers, will lose your farms to the state, EU, in the future anyway. You don't own your farms. If you can't earn enough money to feed your famlies or fail to pay your taxes on your farms and it's products, the EU will take over your farms. What are you going to do when the tax man and his police force, who carry guns to ensure you comply, come knocking at your door. They will confiscate your farms a few at time in order not to scare the other chickens (farmers) in the roost. Why protest? Over the last 100 years, you slowly gave away your liberties and nationalties to a new world order which was not compassionate and will not be compassionate about personal freedoms but socialism. You have lost the fight because of your apathy towards the rights of others. You don't care unless it affects you personally and you just can't understand why and how you lost your liberties.
