Can someone simply stake a claim to other planets in our solar system and apply the same laws to them as we have here on earth?
Earth Beat wanted a second opinion. In this extended version of the original interview, host Marnie Chesterton speaks with Professor Kevin Madders, an expert in Space Law.
This story was taken from the latest edition of Earth Beat - Life beyond Earth

You're right, Hiram! Now Geert will have a new poject to protect the Earth from Sharia law, the Quar'an, etc.. Perhaps an alliance with Marvin the Martian (and his armoury of disintegrator ray guns) will secure peace on the moon! Marvin can be the Moon's sherriff!! It is a fair guess that Marvin can be located with the help of Bugs Bunny!!
"Can someone simply stake a claim to other planets in our solar system and apply the same laws to them as we have here on earth?"....Someone can but how is he or she going to protect the property from those who also claim the property? Wilders claims the Netherlands for the original Dutch people but the millions of Islamic immigrants of who go there will change it into an Islamic country. To claim property, one has to have the means and force to keep it. If you don't believe it, go back into time and and ask the American Indians, if they gave-up their land freely. If you really don't believe it, go back to India (1948) and see how India was divided by force. If you really, really don't believe it go to Kasmir, today and see how it is being divided. Making a claim on a planet is not that easy. Keeping it is the difficult part.
