Skater Kramer stays with Vancouver coach

Published on 18 March 2010 - 2:09pm
More about:

Dutch skating star Sven Kramer has told a press conference that he will continue training with Gerard Kemkers. The coach made him change to the wrong lane in the speed skating 10,000 metres at the Vancouver Winter Olympic Games, losing him the gold medal.

Kramer admitted that the incident had made him think again about training under Kemkers but said that he had been able to put the coach’s painful mistake into perspective. He says they are now “ working really well together” and points out that he has achieved great successes with Kemkers in the past.

Kramer did win a gold medal in the 5000 metres at Vancouver.
